You’ll learn the basics of jewelry making; riveting, soldering, and surface embellishments as you combine traditional materials with found objects to create your own designs. Lampworking: Glass BeadsExplore the process of lampworking. Learn how to create glass cane to form your own beads. Week 2: June 21-25Mesmerizing MonotypeMonotypes are spontaneous and fun. Learn to produce one-of-a-kind prints. Often referred to as the “painterly prints”, they offer infinite creative possibilities! Glass Blowing: PaperweightsGet an introduction to glassblowing. Design and create your own paperweight. Week 3: June 28-July 2Creative Painting TechniquesExplore a variety of media including acrylic, tempera, and watercolor. Paint from your imagination, the landscape, and other things around you. Kiln Working: Glass Fusing & SlumpingLearn the basics of kiln working. Create objects such as jewelry, dishes, or flat images using glasscutters, molds, and a glass kiln. Week 4: July 5-9Wearable ArtOh My! What will I wear? There are many methods and techniques to creating clothes and objects to wear. Have fashion forward fun and learn about design using color and pattern. Glass Blowing: PaperweightsGet an introduction to glassblowing. Design and create your own paperweight. Week 5: July 12-16Destination AnimationExplore the origins of animation. Begin with a storyboard and learn how to animate hand-drawn characters. Lampworking: Glass BeadsExplore the process of lampworking. Learn how to create glass cane to form your own beads. Week 6: July 19-23Don’t Waste, Refashion!Discover the cool creative potential of recyclable plastics. Learn how to heat-form, pop-rivet, cut, and fasten to make whimsical mobiles, pins, and more. Week 10: August 16-20Explore Acrylics!Push the limits with the world’s most versatile medium, acrylic painting. Make your paintbrush dance on various surfaces: canvas, clothes, shoes, or whatever catches your fancy.
