Art Camp for Ages 7 - 10

9am to 3pm, Monday – Friday

art camp for 7 to 10 year oldsAre you the kind of kid who loves to doodle, dabble, and fold? How about construct, mix, and mold? If so, get ready for some super summer art adventures! Did we mention glass? Learn about glass fusing and make some totally awesome HOT glass projects. You’ll have two great classes in each art-filled day.

Daily Schedule:

9-9:30 Daily Draw (guided)

9:30-9:45 Clean-up

9:45-10 Break

10-11:30 Art Lab (guided)

11:30-noon Lunch in the Open Space

noon-1:30 Art Lab (guided)

1:30-1:45 Break

Week 1: June 14-18

Mapping Your World

Hey kids, what’s in your world? Be a cARTographer and create a variety of 2D and 3D maps, scrolls, and constructions.

Sun ‘N Fun

Make a colorful glass sun catcher to hang in your world!

Week 2: June 21-25

Mask Making

It’s fun to have a “new” face with which to amuse people. Learn how lines, shapes, and colors can reveal emotions…and to think, this has been going on since early civilizations all over the world.

That’s Me!

Create a self-portrait in glass!

Week 3: June 28-July 2

Cool Cityscapes

Skyscrapers are amazing. The Egyptians made them with a triangle design. Discover the role of an architect as you shape your own cityscape.

Summer Heat

Design your own fused glass landscape.

Week 4: July 5-9

Walk on the Wild Side

Lions, tigers, and bears…oh my! We’re not talking animal crackers! Get ready to draw and paint your favorite wild animal.

The Glass Menagerie

Create an animal, real or imagined using flat glass that will be fused in the kiln.

Week 5: July 12-16

Glue, Hue, and Contours, too

Learn about contour lines and design as you “draw” with glue. Learn wet-on-wet watercolor techniques to fill your designs with color.

Week 6: July 19-23

Self-Portrait Painting

It’s all about you this week! Create a self-portrait that expresses your unique personality. Using a variety of media from charcoal to pastels you bring your portrait to life.

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall…

Design a fused glass pocket-sized mirror.

Week 7: July 26-30

Monstrous Mâché

Roll up your sleeves for some monstrous fun in papier mâché as you construct a creature from a flat drawing to a three-dimensional form.

“It’s a bird…it’s a plane…it’s GLASSMAN!”

Create a fused glass superhero.

Week 8: August 2-6

Wet, Wild & Wooly

Explore the FUNdamentals of turning sheep’s wool into felt. You’ll learn how to make some way cool 3D animal forms, small bowls, and even a pair of slippers.

The Glass-Bottomed Boat

Design an underwater scene out of glass.

Week 9: August 9-13

Expressive Weaving

Create an ornamental weaving using yarn, burlap, cardboard, and paint.

Snack Time

Design a functional snack dish from fused glass.

Week 10: August 16-20

Inventions, Time-Machines, and More

Put yourself in Einstein or DaVinci’s shoes and invent 3-D time machines, contraptions, or ways to improve the way we live. Draw sketches, make diagrams and paintings to bring your ideas to life.

Mosaic Madness

Create a mosaic design out of glass.
