Laura Militzer Bryant: Crossings
New vibrant fiber art from nationally-recognized, St. Petersburg-based artist Laura M. Bryant. Bryant holds a BFA from the University of Michigan, and her work has earned her numerous grants and awards, including an NEA Visual Artist Fellowship. The owner of Prism Yarns, she is the author of numerous books and is past-president of the National Needlework Association.

The artists in this exhibition use traditional crafts to create two and three dimensional works of art that stretch boundaries with exciting results. By changing scale, subject matter, intent, and location, the artists in this exhibition catapult women's handicrafts from the home front to the art world.
Salsa y Salsa: Convergence Juried Exhibition
This international, juried exhibition is in conjunction with Convergence 2008, the biennial international conference sponsored by he Handweavers' Guild of America (HGA). The spicy spectrum of saturated color influenced by the Caribbean, Central and South American societies permeates Florida. Salsa fires our taste buds and puts the passion in our music. Salsa is the inspiration for this Multimedia Fiber Arts Exhibit. Juror: Joan Michaels Paque, internationally recognized and awarded mixed media artist, and hosted by the Florida Tropical Weavers Guild (FTWG).
Academy Prep Student Exhibition
The Arts Center's ongoing partnership with Academy Prep Center of St. Petersburg continues to foster an interest in the arts by providing an after school enrichment program for students in grades 5-8. Students are introduced to various mediums and processes in visual arts through artist workshops, gallery or museum visits, and hands-on participation. Art enrichment classes meet twice weekly throughout the school year.
