Past Exhbitions -- June 2007

Collage in the Expanded Field

a piece by joel carreiro

Collage has its origins in the Cubist practice of including everyday objects and materials into the world of art making. This exhibition presents the work of artist Joel Carreiro, Hilda Shen, Jackie Shatz, John Morton, Jillian McDonald, Peter Dudek, Carmen Alvarado, Brian Wood and Thomas Weaver, who each have developed innovative collage processes. Collage in the Expanded Field gathers together artists whose works exploit the potential of these mercurial strategies through any means necessary. This exhibition includes site=specific installation, video work, sculpture, and sound.

Project Creo: Bytes & Pieces

View other visions of contemporary collage. Traditional scissors and paper yield to scanning and Photoshop, and the new elements of design are film, photos and soundbytes. Artists include Bina Altera (Brooklyn); Nathaniel Stern (Johannesburg, South Africa); Lee Arnold (Brooklyn); Cristina Clarimon (Albuquerque NM); Jeffers Egan (Madison WI); Joe Farwley (Norwich CT); Betsy Lester (St. Petersburg) and Fred Otnes (Chaburn, CT).

Artful Pride V -- JC Graham
