Michael Milkovich, Director Emeritus of the Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg, has selected forty extraordinary works by Florida artists for this exhibition devoted to the human figure. Working in oil paint on panel, Robert Coane creates small studies of his models, focusing on a "fragment" of the model's natural pose. Coane describes "the figure's gesture as spontaneous; the color brilliant, the image pure, stark, unencumbered, and unadorned. Melora Kuhn: Blackboard Exercises
Melora Kuhn's portraits of children explore the many facets of being - on an intimate level of self to self or in relation to another. In Kuhn's first exhibition at The Arts Center, she addresses such issues as stereotypes, the social dynamics of school and how children, especially girls, "should" behave or act. Figure It Out:
