Terribly Odd

Someplace between good and bad, innocent and indecent, you will find terribly odd – the artwork of Michael Reyes.
More concept than moniker, terribly odd was first conceived as a practice in simplicity. Like children’s stories, the images are intended/meant to read quickly, but leave a lasting impression. In place of canvas, distressed wooden boxes are used as a platform to present an odd cast of characters – giving the work an aged, organic feel. Rudimentary by design, each piece goes through a series of stages: from initial sketch to the application of paint and print, every step along the way is carefully planned.
Always looking to evolve, Reyes continues to keep terribly odd growing in different directions – pulling inspiration from life, popular culture and the darker corners of creativity.
