Stargazing: Holiday Stars of the Arts Center

St. Petersburg, Florida (November 8, 2006) ­ Stargazing: Holiday Stars of the Arts Center opens November 10, 2006, located at 719 Central Avenue in St. Petersburg. The Exhibition runs until December 31, 2006. The exhibits are as follows:


Stargazing: Holiday Stars of the Arts Center (Progress Energy, Hough, & Synovus Galleries)

This festive exhibition features works in all media by artists who have shown at the Arts Center over the past several years, as well as new works by our own instructors. Includes glass by Susan Gott, Chuck Boux, and Duncan McClellan; paintings by Jack Barrett and Betsy Lester; sculpture by Robert Giordano, Nancy Cervenka, and Kyu Yamamoto; mixed media by Lynn Whipple;, and ceramics by Russ Gustafson-Hilton and Yasuko Nakamura. Cards, ornaments, and more will be featured in our gallery shop.


Project Creo: Digital Divide/Digital Provide (Everett & Stanley Galleries)

Artists explore ideas of how the digital revolution has changed the way we live, work and play, utilizing the same technology they are critiquing. Participating artists include Janet Marcavage, Tacoma, Washington; and Mark Cooley, Warrenton, Virginia.


Just Like Me: Word & Image Elementary Exhibition (Risser Gallery)

Work by Pinellas County elementary school students is displayed in this exhibit. The theme of the show -- "Just Like Me" ­ challenges students to create a self-portrait and explain in writing what makes them unique. The theme of this exhibition is based on the book Just Like Me: Stories and Self-Portraits by 14 Artists, edited by Harriet Rohmer. Word & Image awards will be announced at 2pm.


*Family Day is Saturday, Dec. 3rd from 1 - 4pm.

The Arts Center is a 501 c 3, non-profit, located in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida. The Arts Center inspires, educates, and engages a diverse population in the creation of contemporary visual art by providing a dynamic, professional environment to foster the creative process, allowing artists and the community to meet and exchange ideas. We offer extensive studio arts classes at all levels across a wide variety of media, and we exhibit outstanding recent work by local, regional, national and international artists through an extensive program of rotating exhibits created by student, emerging, mid-career and established artists.
