All campers should bring a lunch from home. Please note: Lunches are not refrigerated. Please include a freeze pack in your camper's lunch and water, if needed. How many children will be in class with my child? 5-11 year old camps have the capacity for 18 students in a class. 12-15 year old camps have 8-12 students in a class. How many teachers in a class? What is the student to teacher ratio? There is one lead teacher in each class along with 1-2 teaching assistants. Teaching assistants are high school aged students under the supervision of the lead teacher and the camp director. What will my child be doing during the camp week? Children ages 5-7 yrs. are in a self-contained classroom, meaning the various art processes will be taught in their classroom. The 9-11 year old campers will rotate among 3 classrooms in their assigned groups. Two classrooms are in the main building and one classroom is located in the hand building room of the clay studio. What do the themes mean? The themes are a jumping off point for teachers to plan from. Teachers may use various ideas such as cultural art, language arts, art history, or a master artist to interpret the theme. For example: Artists Under Construction A Teacher may have the students study the culture & art of the Northwest Pacific and draw, design, and construct totems. Another teacher may have the students study artist Alexander Calder and his circus constructions then have the students design and construct their own circus scene.
