This mid-level to advanced course explores alternative fabric dye processes, focusing on the overnight, experimental bucket-dye process. The course also will be an introduction into projects that implement this dyed fabric. The course will cover fabric treatment, the dye process from start to finish, transformation of dyed fabric into objects and garments, as well as the range of stand-alone objects that can be made with fabric.

*Access to a sewing machine is highly recommended for this course.*

Instructor Biography: Chelsea Rowe

Chelsea Rowe is a multimedia artist and working in painting, drawing, installation, sound, textile and performance based in St. Petersburg, Florida. She received her MFA in multidisciplinary art from the Mount Royal School of Art at MICA, and her BFA in Drawing from the University of Florida. She has shown work in both solo and group exhibitions in Florida, Maryland, Colorado, and Puerto Rico. She has been an artist in residence at Elsewhere Studios in Paonia, CO, and was awarded a full scholarship to attend the Vermont Studio Center in February of 2019. Chelsea is also a published author of On Flooding Green (2018).
