Screen printing is a quick, fun, intuitive way of creating an image on fabric. The students will arrive at these images through analogue, low-tech methods of screen printing. Through demonstrations and active class participation, the students will learn methods of screen printing using stencils, mono-printing and direct dyes. The instructor will facilitate studio time as part of the class where the students will get to learn the above mentioned methods and work on their projects. The students will use visual research to arrive at the images they want to craft as their prints. Through visual and conceptual enquiries the students will arrive at their final pieces by the end of the class session, with tangible printed fabrics or products.
Students are responsible for the materials on the following list: Materials List – Print on Fabric with Saumitra Chandratreya
In addition, there is a materials fee of $20 to be paid directly to the instructor by cash or check on the first day of class–this fee will cover all additional materials needed beyond what is stated on the list.
