Learning how to make, apply, and alter glaze safely to fit our needs. The raw materials in glaze have changed a lot -but recipes haven’t. Come learn how to improve and control the glaze you apply to your work. We will examine everything from the mined materials to the firing techniques that influence opacity/translucency, color, and texture. We will also learn how to solve glaze defects, their causes, food safety, basic material science, and even compare how other countries make ceramics -which can help us understand our own methods.
