This two-day intensive workshop will cover the fundamentals of acrylic painting. Teresa will demonstrate each and every step in detail. There is more to making art than learning “techniques”. During this workshop, Teresa will share those “secrets” too. Instructor Profile

Teresa will be visiting St Petersburg FL for a short time this year and we are so happy that she will be teaching a Workshop at the Morean while she is in town.

Biography: Teresa Mandala grew up in Rockford, Illinois and migrated to Kansas City, where she received a BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute. Currently she runs a virtual advertising studio, in an active studio artist, and is an instructor at the Kansas City Art Institute. She has given various workshops and lectures in the Kansas City area.

Mandala enjoys exploring materials and finding unconventional ways to express very complex concepts. She has worked in wood, metal, glass, watercolor, acrylic, and oil paints. Currently, she works in porcelain. Her work is a dance of color and visual movement, embracing the divine feminine. Her concepts and themes are inspired by her own personal experiences. Her ultimate objective is to translate her own experiences of struggle, triumph, and failure into universal truths.

You can find her work in several private collections across America. Her exhibition record includes numerous group shows, benefits and competitions, including Belger Crane Yard Gallery, The Art Factory, The Hill Design House, MOD Gallery, and Art for Hope.

Artist Statement: My love of philosophy and quantum physics inspires my work. I am intrigued by the idea that multiple outcomes exist in a single moment and our focus determines reality. Inspiration can come to me from life experiences, environments, and individuals or from the material itself. I’m constantly questioning my perspective of the “unknown” and how it affects my life. By exploring different perspectives I am able to create a playground of the physical and spiritual worlds coming together in harmony; visually representing the flow that is life’s energy and the connection all of us crave. Each piece of artwork evokes emotion and encourages conversation with the viewer. My goal is to incite the viewer to embrace that part of them that is connected with everything. Plugging into this energy allows us to open up to all possibilities.
