Learning to See in Black and White

Photography began in black and white. In this class you will go back to basics and learn to see in black and white and make your photos in black and white. Through looking at photographs, taking your own and receiving feedback from peers, you will gain an understanding about what seeing in black and white means.
You need to have an understanding of manual exposure for this class. Some post-production is discussed. You will have weekly assignments, and in class discussion about your work and 2 field trips.

Instructor Profile
I began photographing for my school newspaper in the 9th grade. Being a photojournalist has been my passion for nearly 30 years. In 1995 I received my MFA in photography from The Hartford Art School.
In 2003, I was selected to be the first Photographer Laureate for the city of Tampa. I love teaching as much as taking photographs and have been combining these loves for over 20 years. Currently I am the Director of Photography at the Morean Arts Center.
