Stone Setting with Connie Hubbard

Make beautiful jewelry by learning to set various stones (faceted gemstones and cabochons) into your work! Students will learn to incorporate tube settings, prong settings, and flush mount settings into their pieces. Students will also learn how to make tube settings and a simple basket setting for gemstones.
Background: Students must be able to solder proficiently using an acetylene torch or have completed Beginning Jewelry Fabrication 1 and 2 at the Morean Arts Center.

Connie Hubbard has been a silversmith for over 30 years. Her work is available in galleries here in Saint Petersburg and in Ohio. In addition to her metalwork career, she was a high school/college teacher for 30 years in the Ohio Public School system where she received many teacher awards including the Presidential Award for Excellence in Teaching. She is a very enthusiastic, patient and excellent at helping students.
