Sam Abell’s forty-year career has been dedicated to achieving artistic expression through documentary photography. He has pursued his goals primarily through in-depth assignments for National Geographic, where for thirty years he was a contract and staff photographer. At the same time, he has maintained a career as an artist, teacher and author. He is also a charter member of Canon’s Explorers of Light program. “Beth Reynolds is the reason I have a meaningful relationship with the Morean Arts Center. Some years ago she invited me to present an exhibit of my work at the Arts Center. In conjunction with that, I led a workshop for aspiring photographers. Last year, Beth again invited me to the Arts Center to jury an exhibit and lead another workshop. Thanks to her, and to the Arts Center, I have come to know and respect the Morean, its staff and the creative community of photographers in St. Petersburg.” Photo Credit: Kari Wehrs
