Workshop Description:
This workshop will cover the basics of encaustics including the history of encaustics, safety measures, tools, and the use of wax, collage and fusing. Each student will leave with a finished 8×8 work of art and handout materials.
ALL MATERIALS WILL BE PROVIDED. Students can also bring reference materials of their choosing.

Teacher Bio:
A resident of Madeira Beach, Florida for more than 20 years, Susan Hess creates interpretive impressions of people, places, and nature. Her experimentation with acrylic, watercolor, and collage led to a fascination of encaustic wax painting. Susan’s new encaustic work combines the spontaneity of color, the texture of acrylics, and the flow of watercolors. Susan paints and exhibits her work at Artlofts Studios in St. Petersburg, Florida. Her work has been included in numerous regional and national exhibits. She is a signature member of the Florida Watercolor Society and a member of the International Encaustic Artists and Florida Wax.
