Join Holly Rose in creating your own noise-making toys by combining wheel thrown components and hand-built alteration. In this two day workshop students will learn to throw enclosed forms while working off the hump, pinch and coil-build small elements, and decorate surfaces prior to bisque firing. During this exploration we will consider how much the composition of an object can affect its functionality and overall fun factor.

Please purchase your clay ahead of the class. Any throwable stoneware that fires to cone 6 is acceptable. Firing and glazes will be included with the workshop.

Speckled Brownstone – Made by Highwater Clays. Fires to a light brown in color with small black specs. Great for throwing on the potter’s wheel. Can be fired to Cone 6. 

Brooklyn Red – Rich dark red colored clay. Contains grog that makes it exceptionally strong for sculpting or throwing large vessels. Can be fired to Cone 6. 

240 White – Made by Standard clay. Very smooth, plastic throwing body that fires to Cone 6.
