Fresh Squeezed 10: Emerging Artists in Florida

Each year, the Morean Arts Center invites emerging artists living in Florida to submit their work for potential space in our Fresh Squeezed exhibition. Now in its tenth year, Fresh Squeezed continuously aims to provide emerging artists with resources needed to develop a sustainable artistic practice. The exhibition nurtures and advances the careers of emerging visual artists while also giving our community the opportunity to discover exciting new art being made in our region.

The Morean would like to thank Fresh Squeezed 10 sponsors The Gobioff Foundation and Lisa and Perry
Everett for their continued support.

Exhibition: March 28 – July 19, 2026

The exhibition has been held at the Morean Arts Center every Spring since 2017. The Morean Galleries are divided into six spaces for the purposes of this show, giving each selected artist a solo exhibition.

2026 Participating Artists:

Alberto Alonso - Winter Haven, FL

Alberto Alonso’s work investigates the emotional landscape of distance and belonging, focusing on the experience of being away from Puerto Rico, the place he calls home, and the complex feelings of nostalgia and homesickness that accompany this separation. Alonso is currently an MFA candidate at the University of Central Florida.

Ysabel Flores - Tallahassee, FL

Born in the US as a Filipino American and separated from her ancestral homeland of the Philippines, Ysabel Flores examines the systems that shape, inform, and mediate her attention for it. She is currently an MFA candidate at Florida State University.

Angelina Palmisano - Maitland, FL

Angelina Palmisano’s paintings are a celebration of life’s beautiful and tender moments – a tribute to friends, family, love, and subtle humor, intertwining with the inevitable pain and loss that render the good times so precious. Angelina is an MFA candidate at the University of Central Florida.

Clancy Riehm - Largo, FL

Clancy Riehm’s work features original editorial style creations, often depicting nature and imaginative settings using bright, playful color palettes. A Florida native, Clancy holds a BFA in illustration from the Ringling College of Art + Design.

Jamie Rodriguez - West Palm Beach, FL

Jamie Rodriguez’s immersive installations are inspired by the historical significance of the landscape and the universality of the human condition in relation to environment. There are no found objects in his installations; each element is either carved from insulation foam, cast in wax, plaster or fired clay.

Kimberly Vorperian - St. Pete, FL

Using earthy found materials and leaning on traditional crafting techniques, Kimberly Vorperian explores the folk traditions and folklore of her Armenian and Eastern European ancestry and combines them with her experience farming in Florida and living in tune with the land. She holds a BA in Visual Art and Experimental Music from New College of Florida.

Gwen Mehler - Fleming Island, FL

Gwen Mehler’s work aims to highlight the beauty of nature by focusing on painting animals large scale, using bold colors and patterns in the style of a traditional portrait.  Her objective is to spotlight the bird species included in the current list of threatened and endangered animals and to grow awareness and empathy for the nature surrounding our home and shared spaces.

Gillian Probert - St. Pete, FL

Gillian Probert’s carved glass vessels utilize nature motifs to convey deeper messages about human emotion, aiming to reflect significant aspects of the human experience through natural imagery. Gillian holds degrees in Visual Arts and Business Management from Eckerd College.
