“From my home in Miami, I was corresponding with director Dee Dewberry about an exhibition and a papermaking workshop for The Arts Center in 1981. The workshop took place soon after we moved to Clearwater later that year, breaking some kind of record with 32 students on the second floor of the old Arts Center building. (It took that workshop for me to learn to limit class size!) “Approximately a year later I was honored with an exhibition of my 2 and 3-D paperworks, and although I remember it as a one-person exhibition, the show may have included one other artist. I recall the Arts Center’s low ceilings, and my installations hung like kites above everyone’s heads. I was welcomed into Pinellas County, St. Petersburg and the local arts community through these events, and remain ever grateful for the opportunity.”
