Born and raised in Western Pennsylvania, he took an early interest in art and eventually graduated from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. During a career as a sales promotion artist, he continued his studies a Carnegie Mellon and the Otis Art Institute. He retired in 2006 and became a member of the South Carolina Watermedia Society, the Trenholm Artist Guild and About Face. He recently relocated to Pinellas County. “I am challenged to see clearly and paint simply while conveying the essence and emotion of my subject. I paint in both watercolor and acrylics because they have a living, flowing feel that often changes as it is applied and dries. Those ever changing ‘life of their own’ characteristics encourage a freedom of application that continues to challenge me. When I paint, I am instantly rewarded with spontaneity, luminosity and the joy of the unexpected.”
