Offered for:
Winter Session 1 (Jan 9, 23, 30, Feb 6, 13 and 20) – 3 or 6 week option – Please note no class on Jan 16 for Martin Luther King Jr. Day
Winter Session 2 (Feb 27, Mar 6, 13, 20, 27 and April 3) – 3 or 6 week option
Spring Session (April 17, 24, May 1, 8, 15 and 22) – 3 or 6 week option
Students pursue a multitude of media with an emphasis on self-expression. This class develops your cohesive body of work with a focus on concept. Weekly class critiques.
PRE-ASSIGNMENT
For working artists please bring:
1. One to three recent finished works.
2. One work in progress.
3. One clipping, photo, and/or object of your artistic influence.
4. Write a Statement of Intent. What is your work idea and why will mixed media show us best?
For part time artists please bring:
Do 1-4 above AND bring that which you value, one of each:
1. An object.
2. A photo of a person, place or thing.
3. A clipping of non-objective artwork (about shapes and colors).
MATERIALS
SUGGESTED PAINT:
-Alizarin Crimson
-Cad red light (vermillion)
-Cad yellow
-Yellow ochre
-Pthalo green
-Ultramarine Blue
-Raw sienna
-Ivory black
-Titanium white
-Optional: Burnt Sienna, Raw Sienna, Burnt Umber, Prussian blue, Naples yellow
SUGGESTED MEDIA: vine charcoal, oil sticks, pastels, collage material, white glue
BRUSHES of Various Sizes- Rounds, Flats, Stiff and soft bristle. Bigger the better!
CANVAS: Two to three primed stretched, preferably same size (20”x 20”)
PALLET: Meat trays, or disposable pallet pad
MISC: Big water container, rags, sponge
