Learn pastel painting using soft pastels and pastel pencils. No experience necessary. A “how to” class for beginners and intermediate students with demonstrations and individual instruction. Students will learn various techniques, such as layering, blending, feathering and more, working from photo references. I hope you enjoy the art of pastel painting!

- Canson Mi-Teintes 9×12” pastel pad, assorted colors
- Box of soft pastels 72 count
- 12 pastel pencils or more
- 9×12” tracing paper pad
- Ebony pencil
- Stump

Raul Alsina was born in Havana, Cuba and came to St. Petersburg, Florida in the early sixties where he resides with his family. He has been drawing and painting since he was very young. Raul is an artist and a designer with more than 30 years of professional experience. His knowledge for design, illustration and the fine arts grew as he went to the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale. Living on Florida’s Gulf Coast and frequently visiting the Caribbean, has been an inspiration to paint tropical scenes with lots of vibrant colors. He has won numerous awards for his flamingo series at the Mainsail Art Festival in Florida. One of his paintings was commissioned by the U.S. Ambassador to Spain to commemorate the Olympics and World Expo. The painting was on display in Madrid and 5,000 posters were distributed from the original. Raul uses professional quality acrylic paints on gallery-wrapped canvas and also creates colorful paintings using pastels.
