Discovering Darkroom & Film Photography with Lance Rothstein
Saturdays, 6 classes
10am – 1pm
Offered for:
Fall Session 2 (Nov 9, 16, 23, 30, Dec 7, 14)
Winter Session 1 (Jan 11, 18, 25, Feb 1, 8, 15)
Discover why so many people are using film photography to make images that stand out from the rest. Your pictures don’t have to be pixels confined to a screen. Learn to craft handmade silver-gelatin photographs through the time-honored tradition of film photography.Â
In this class we’ll explore:
- Taking pictures with different film cameras and learning how to use them properly. (If you don’t have one, it can be checked out from the Morean).
- Learning to process your own black and white film.
- Making contact sheets.
- Selecting the best frames for printing.
- Working on an enlarger to make traditional silver-gelatin photographs.
Â
With light and chemistry, you’ll craft unique pictures, thoroughly hand-made by you. This class is both for people have previously worked in a darkroom and want to get more into it AND for those who have never tried it before.
