Learn the basics of hand carving while making a wooden spoon!

Students will learn proper handling techniques, wood grain structure basics, sharpening, clamping, and sanding, all while carving out your own design of a spoon. Wood and Carving tools will be provided. It is recommended you purchase “no cut” carving gloves in your size. Links will be provided. This workshop is for beginners and those that want a relaxing fun atmosphere to learn and create a new skill.

Artist Bio

 
Born in Howard Beach N.Y. and moving to Pinellas County in 1977 at the age of 12, Nick spent 30 years with the Pinellas Park Fire Department as a Paramedic and Lieutenant. After retiring in 2014 Nick and his wife Shelly opened an art studio in the Old Southeast Neighborhood of St. Petersburg where Shelly is a ceramicist and Nick is a woodworker concentrating on woodturning and carving. Nick has been an assistant instructor at Arrowmont School of the Arts in Gatlinburg TN, as well as instructing in his studio.
