“Healing Through Sound and Art” is an eight-part series that offers participants an opportunity to learn and rebalance the 7 main chakras, by using sound and art as a tool. With the intentional use of sound and art we offer participants a guided, multi-sensory experience that blends the physiological, mental, and spiritual benefits of sound healing with expressive and meditative art practices. The workshop is designed to help attendees slow down, ground their energy, release stress, and engage with art as a pathway to personal reflection and healing.
Participants are be encouraged to dress comfortably and come prepared for a calming, reflective experience. The workshop is suitable for all levels—no prior experience with meditation, art, or healing practices is required.
Participants will be supplied with their own canvas and drawing and painting tools, which they will take home at the conclusion of the workshop.
*Class will be held in the Chihuly Garden at 720 Central Ave. St. Petersburg
Meet the Artists and Sound Practitioners!
Malinda Ellis is a life and wellness coach whose work helps clients “unveil the blind spots that might be hindering your ability to make the best choices,” release trauma and negative habits, and embrace paths aligned with their highest good. Her approach is deeply informed by her own healing journey, which includes overcoming family trauma, surviving domestic abuse, and navigating an ovarian cancer diagnosis at the age of 27.
As a sound bowl practitioner, meditation leader, and lecturer, Malinda uses crystal singing bowls, drums, and other instruments to facilitate healing on a physiological level. She explains that sound healing works by vibrating the body’s fascia, the connective tissue that links all organs and systems. These vibrations travel through the body at a cellular level, similar to acupuncture or acupressure, helping to release energetic blockages. The sound bowls are tuned to different energy centers, or chakras, allowing vibrations to move through the body, unclog blocked energy, and support healing on mental, emotional, and physical levels.
Neurographic Art & Healing Practices with Debbie Yati Garrett
Artist, filmmaker, educator, and Healing Touch Level 3 Practitioner Debbie Garrett will guide participants through a Neurographica-inspired art session that integrates both creative expression and energy-based healing practices.
In addition to neurotrophic drawing and painting, Ms. Garrett will incorporate grounding and centering techniques as well as hara alignment, a Healing Touch practice focused on aligning the body’s core energy center. These practices help participants feel balanced, present, and energetically supported, creating a full-bodied experience of art and healing.
Ms. Garrett notes that the Neurographic Method, developed by Russian psychologist Pavel Piskarev in 2014, is rooted in a natural human impulse often seen in doodling or scribbling. This process engages the right side of the brain, enhances focus, quiets mental chatter, and opens participants to creative flow through a series of curves, rounding, lines, and colors that stimulate the brain.
