Join us for a hands-on introduction to Joomchi, a traditional Korean art form that uses paper, water, and movement to create rightly textured, cloth-like surfaces. Through layering, wetting, and manipulating paper by hand, you’ll discover the beauty of organic patterns, tactile textures, and creative expression.
In this beginner friendly workshop, you will learn about the history and cultural significance of Joomchi while exploring its unique techniques that can be incorporated into mixed-media works, book arts, fiber arts, collage, and other creative projects. You will create your own one-of-a-kind artwork to take home and gain new skills to continue exploring in your own artistic practice.Â

Artist Bio:
Stasha McKnight has seen art as transformation; taking individual pieces and bringing them together to create something unique and beautiful. Be it paper in the art of Joomchi, tile and found objects in mosaics, or using fabrics in the place of paint in the practice of Kinusaige. As an instructor, she finds great joy in helping others experience the satisfaction of making art with their own hands.
