Dip your toes into Printmaking this fall with a new and exciting workshop from artist Abby Golden! Students will be introduced to some of the foundations of printmaking and have the opportunity to make their own unique pieces. Class will start with a short demonstration and explanation before participants jump right in to making their very own stamps.

Small stamps will be made using medium specific carving tools to make a relief image. These can then be used to make infinite prints, and meaningful works of art.
Materials provided – Linoleum block, erasers to make mini stamps, carving tools, printmaking paper

Materials to bring – Notebook/sketchpad

Artist Bio:

I am an artist with a B.A. in Studio Arts with my focus in printmaking. Additionally, I received a concentration in Community Engagement and Social Change (which ties in with my art practice significantly!) My art teaching experience has primarily been in elementary education, from leading museum tours to art camps. When not making art, I am at my day job as an environmental educator for folks of all ages and walks of life.

I am currently working on the Florida Memories Project, in which I interview people from Florida on what they miss about their home state that has changed due to gentrification and/or environmental losses. To follow the project click here. My work leading up to this point focuses on the tension between control and harmony with nature. Certain symbols fascinate me such as swimming pools, golf courses, landscaping etc.
