Modern Urban Barn Quilts! are a fresh update on traditional Americana artwork. You will create a high-quality, 2-foot-square MDO wood panel with rich exterior latex paint, allowing it to be displayed both indoors and outdoors. They are a charming way to add a splash of color to your entryway, garden, she-shed, sewing room, kitchen, or wherever! You will learn how to plan your design and paint clean, crisp shapes like those found on real quilts. We have several patterns available, or you can create your own. Students will have plenty of time to complete their Modern Urban Barn Quilts!

Student Supplies List: Yardstick &/or a CLEAR 24-inch+ quilting ruler, and a small portable hairdryer with a COOL setting. Students will select their design with the instructor, Laura York, via email before class. You are encouraged to wear old, comfortable painting clothes &/or a full-length apron. Be prepared to get a little paint on your clothes and have a great day!

Teacher Bio:
Laura York – Maker & Joy Seeker
“I’ve been a maker since I was four years old. My mom encouraged me to try everything and to invest my time in learning. My curiosity has led me to take countless classes, from collegiate arts to slow stitching, quilt-making, glass collage, decoupage, furniture painting, and anything else I find interesting. Fortunately, most creative people are kind-hearted and love to share their talents. That’s the joy my mom knew I would love.”
