Mold Making and Small Pewter Casting Workshop with Jackie Kaufman

2 Part Workshop

Saturday May 25 and Saturday June 1

11am – 3pm

Skill Level: Beginner/Intermediate

Price: $200

In this workshop we will make 2 unique pewter sculptures and 2 rubber molds.
We will take small objects like small toys or carved wax pieces and cut them up and put them together to make 2 fun whimsical sculptures. These sculptures will be about 3 inches tall and 1-1 1/2 inches wide.

After creating the original pieces, we will make a mold of each then cast them in pewter. You will learn how to cut a rubber mold and get it ready for the casting of the statue. We will then finish them, and you will leave with 2 completed sculptures. You will also leave with the 2 rubber molds that can be used over and over again to make many more pieces. Once you learn this technique, you will be able to create really unique pieces for your own art. Pewter is easy to work with and makes a beautiful end piece. Many times, students will be able to make extras and trade them with other students, so you might leave with many different pieces.

Day 1, Saturday May 25 will be creating the 2 sculptures, cleaning them up and pouring the molds.

Day 2, Saturday June 1 will be cutting the molds, casting the pieces in pewter, cleaning them up and finishing them to be ready for display.
