Slip Decorating
with Erica Bleu

1 Day Workshop

Monday February 17th

6pm – 9pm

All Skill Levels

Price: $100

This 1-day workshop will go over how to decorate clay pieces with slip! The evening will consist of how to make thick slip and the ways you can apply slip as well as time for hands-on practice. During this, students will explore how to use squeeze bottles and an air pen for slip trailing (a decorating process that uses thickened slip that is piped onto a form, similar to icing a cake). Participants are insisted on bringing soft pieces that are ready for decorating. If students do not bring finished forms or would like more, extra slabs for practice and cups will be available. All other materials will be provided for participants to borrow during the workshop days.

Purchase clay prior to your first class by calling 727-821-7162 ext. 2311 (Wed-Sat 10am-5pm)

259 – Buff colored stoneware. Smooth enough to throw on the potter’s wheel, but strong enough to withstand most hand-building techniques. Can be fired from Cone 6 to Cone 10.

Speckled Brownstone – Made by Highwater Clays. Fires to a light brown in color with small black specs. Great for throwing on the potter’s wheel. Can be fired to Cone 6.

Brooklyn Red – Rich dark red colored clay. Contains grog that makes it exceptionally strong for sculpting or throwing large vessels. Can be fired to Cone 6.

240 White – Made by Standard clay. Very smooth, plastic throwing body that fires to Cone 6.
