Unlock Your Emotions onto Canvas with Joanna Coke

The goal of this workshop is to learn how to express your feelings with words onto canvas and then make it into a final complete image. It is open to ALL levels of skill. You will create onto a large support (Canvas or Paper) with acrylics, oils, and pastels. You will go through several activities to release your emotions and mark your canvas. Then you will create an image over these marks to make an abstract or realistic art piece.

 

Supplie List:

This workshop is best to use acrylics, oils or pastels. *Please note if you intend on working with oils, you must bring your own disposal method for paints and chemicals, as the art center does not provide a place for this.*
 
Supplies are not provided so the students will need to bring their usual materials.
 
Include all your brushes but especially your largest and smallest brushes.
 
You’ll choose your color palette from the paints/pastel sticks you’ll bring.
 
Bring a larger size support (which is your canvas or paper).  The dimensions 
can be any size as long as it does not exceed 30″ on one side.  
 
Acrylic painters bring 2 water buckets (such as large yogurt size)
 
Oil painters use Gamsol (which is very low odor turp)
 
LARGE palette. I use disposable paper palettes (and you can use 6-8 plastic plates)
 
Rags or paper towels
 
And whatever else you are accustomed to bringing

Artist Bio:

Joanna has a bachelor’s degree in art education and a master’s degree in painting. From these academic skills. She has developed a teaching style that is hands-on with continual feedback. Her studio has been established over the past 20 years in southwest Florida. She has conducted many workshops in the states and overseas as well as teaching private lessons and classes.
