Come weave with us!
In this workshop, students will learn basics of both paper weaving and basketry to create functional baskets. We will start with a brief history of the art form and some examples. After this, students will jump right in to weaving a flat base, before building the basket itself. We will cover plain weaving, clipping, turning corners, molding, adornment and much more, as we discover the endless possibilities of paper weaving.
Supplies: students will need to bring
- Medium sized Cardstock, multicolored as desired by the student
- A pencil
- A ruler
- Alligator clips or Paperclips
- Glue – Stick or PVA/Elmers
- Painters tape or masking tape
Lisa Ramudo was born in Michigan of Cuban immigrant parents but spent most of her early life in Mexico and Costa Rica. She received her Bachelor’s of Fine Arts at the School of Visual Arts New York, she has also studies at the University of Michigan, the Art Students League, and the Penland School of Craft. She currently lives in Tampa Florida.
