Exhibition Statement
The Morean Arts Center continues to dedicate this season as a time to appreciate our members and celebrate their talent.
The 2021 members exhibition includes nearly 200 works of art expressing the theme of LANDMARK. While there are many recognizable landmarks rendered faithfully in this show, other works of art may not be obvious. Some landmarks, as we know, can be personal, and known only to the person that holds a space or an object close to their heart. This exhibition is a love letter to our region, and to all the places, people and things we deem important.
Special thanks to Liz Dimmitt, who served as guest juror for this year and is the CEO and co-founder of an up-and-coming St. Pete landmark: Fairgrounds. She gave out monetary awards in memory and in honor of special artists and individuals who have shaped the Morean in a profound way: Margaret Murphy Steward, John Brown, John Eckert, Tim Salen, Mark Pheiffer and Beth Reynolds.
If this is your first time (or your 101st time) to the Morean, there are several ways you can participate in the exhibition. Consider purchasing a work of art from the show. With a wide range of price points, there is something in this exhibition for every taste and economic ability. It’s never too late (or early!) to begin or add to your own personal art collection. If you have never made art before, take a class and learn some skills that could put you in a future Morean exhibition.
Immerse yourself in the art experience at the Morean! Thank you to our incredible member artists who have made this the most popular exhibition we do all year. Thanks also to Betsy Orbe Lester, Tom Kaltenbaugh and Matthew Jurecic who make our galleries look amazing.
