Jack attended Carnegie Institute and in 1954, graduated from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. His diversified body of work has included news features, illustrations, sports cartoons, political caricatures, show business portraits and humorous art, as well as “serious” paintings. Jack’s style ranges as widely as his subjects, from meticulous realism to free expressionism. A regular at the Arts Center’s Saturday morning figure drawing open studio sessions, Jack was a longtime member of the Center. He participated in numerous exhibitions over the years, including two-person shows with Robert Hodgell in 1981 and with Valerie Scott Knaust in the mid-1990s. The Morean celebrated Jack’s life with a posthumous retrospective in 2008 called A Soul’s Journey.
