Mondays

3pm – 6pm

Offered for:

Fall Session 1 (Sep 7, 13, 20, 27, Oct 4, 11) *First class on Tuesday 9/7; on Mondays thereafter*

Prerequisite: FAB 1 & 2

Build on your metal skills by exploring the process of stone setting. The class will focus on the technique of bezel setting, tube setting, flush setting and prong setting.

Expand your bezel setting knowledge by creating a pendant that is formed by making a step bezel. Use tubing to create a bezel setting for smaller stones with this alternative stone setting technique. We will cover the basics of measuring and working with gemstones including choosing the correct tubing, cutting a seat and setting a stone. While getting more comfortable using the flexshaft you will learn how to flush set stones into your work. We will work with premade casted settings, as well as make our own prong setting. Students can use their setting work to fabricate rings, earrings, or pendants.

All materials will be provided.
