This six-week class will teach tools and techniques to enable you to paint expressive still life paintings using oils or acrylics. Working with the same “Still Life” over three sessions, you will leave with two paintings by the end of the course.
You will learn:
·
How to use the comparative method to capture the composition
· How to use different palettes of color
· How to handle paint and edge control
· How to use value and color to create a convincing impression of light
· Technical information regarding materials
Whilst we use the genre of “Still Life”, the techniques and methods learned can be used for other genres such as portraiture, landscapes and figurative. Artists should have a basic understanding of painting techniques, as well as some practical experience and be prepared to use an easel either standing or sitting down. Prior experience of painting “Still Life” is welcomed but not a pre-requisite.
